SMI Group India was founded in 1980 by Lt. Shri Gautam Chand Jain, and formally registered as Shobhawat Metals Industries in 1992.
Since then, his sons Mr. Prabhat Kumar Jain and Mr. Deepak Kumar Jain, and the next generation — Mr. Harsh Jain and Mr. Udit Jain — have each joined the business in turn, growing it into an operation that procures and sells non-ferrous metals all over India.
Today, SMI Group operates through Shobhawat Metals Industries together with associated concerns Harsh Trading Company, Utsav Trading Company and Gsons Industries — run as one family business.
Four decades on, the values haven't changed even as the business has: what started as a single product in one workshop is now a full-cycle non-ferrous metal operation, still run by the same family.
"Never compromise on quality."
"Your reputation is your biggest asset."
"Relationships are more valuable than profits."
Our goal is not only to make SMI Group the largest non-ferrous metal business in India, but the best and most trustworthy. By 2040, we want the people and companies who saw us starting out to watch us build a strong global presence — and recognize the journey from a small manufacturing workshop.
Currently under development — expanding our recycling capability beyond metal scrap.
Sourcing non-ferrous scrap from beyond India to feed our manufacturing capacity.
Exporting finished products and eventually operating a scrapyard outside India.
Consistent quality, transparent dealing, deep industry expertise and experienced manpower for segregation — backed by the licenses above. Our customers span every type of industry, depending on demand and requirement, with private manufacturing companies as our largest buyers — and we purchase and sell all over India.
Our base on Balod Road, Pulgaon in Durg, Chhattisgarh puts us within easy reach of industrial belts across central India — useful for both sourcing scrap and distributing finished material to buyers all over the country.
